The present paper suggests that this happens not just in prototypically persuasive types of text, but also in news reports when the subject of the chronicle is ideologically sensible (e.g., femicides, national health disservices, etc.). Analysing an original ad hoc corpus of Italian news reports, the paper shows the distribution of implicit strategies between headlines and articles and between less-sold and most-sold newspapers, also compared to other text types. It also individuates implic-it patterns in headlines and addresses issues related to genrespecific textual features, including clickbait, the interpretation of definite descriptions in headlines, and the role of written modality in conveying implicitness.
Federica Cominetti Copyright (c) 2025 2025-05-02 2025-05-02 LE UNITÀ DEL PARLATO E LA DIMENSIONE TESTUALE DELLA COMUNICAZIONE SPONTANEA: COMPARAZIONI TEORICHE E ANALISI LINGUISTICHE http://rivistepacini-ojs.archicoop.it/SILTA/article/view/1322
This paper offers a theoretical overview of specific units of spoken language that go beyond the utterance: textually broad and pragmatically unitary structures of spontaneous speech in which the language “builds a text”. These macrostructures are recognizable thanks to specific prosodic properties and appear in the form of juxtaposed sequences of illocutions. The reviewed theoretical frameworks outline a syntactic-seman-tic representation and a prosodic-pragmatic description of the structures. Conversational Analysis, the Autosegmental-Metric model, Narration Analysis, Sornicola’s studies on oral planning in narrative macro-structures, and the Language into Act Theory are pre-sented. Based on the theoretical suggestions, the results of a corpus-based analysis of the Italian language are proposed. The informative, prosodic, illocutionary, syntactic, and textual features are described and discussed.
Valentina Saccone Copyright (c) 2025 2025-05-02 2025-05-02 SISTEMI DI ALLOCUZIONE E DEISSI SOCIALE. PRATICHE PRAGMATICHE E SOCIOLINGUISTICHE DI UNA COMUNITÀ LINGUISTICA DI MINORANZA http://rivistepacini-ojs.archicoop.it/SILTA/article/view/1323
The aim of this paper is to explore the use of address pronouns, as deictic refer-ences, by speakers of Guardia Piemontese, an Occitan linguistic minority in Calabria (South Italy). Drawing on pragmatics and sociolinguistics theoretical and methodological approaches, this study aims to analyze the grammatical use of address forms and shows how the size of a linguistic community can affect the encoding of social and interactional context and how this is able to act on speakers’ language choices. Finally, the identifica-tion of address forms proves functional in documenting the system, filling a knowledge gap related to a minority language variety.
Irene Micali Copyright (c) 2025 2025-05-02 2025-05-02
